KLEKs: "CulturalLandscapeElementsCadastre"

"KLEKs - CulturalLandscapeElementsCadastre", the first geographic information system in Germany was developed to digitally record historical cultural landscape elements using a holistic method (  https://www.kleks.app//). Over a quarter of a million records have been recorded since 1999. KLEKs is not an official database, but sees itself as a component of a platform for civic engagement for the preservation of livable, diverse natural and cultural landscapes - therefore as a means for the stronger democratization of nature conservation and landscape planning. KLEKs can be used by interested parties on site.

KLEKs is not an isolated solution, it can be characterized in particular by the terms “community principle” and “self-organization” as well as “closeness to the citizen, openness and transparency”. By using the synergy potential of local initiatives and previously often scattered information, access to a common, constantly growing and improved database is made possible. This community approach is intended to achieve a comprehensive and as complete as possible recording of historical cultural landscape elements. Of course, the cadastre will never be completed and must be constantly updated.

KuLaDig: "Culture. Landscape. Digital“

KuLaDig, short for “Culture. Landscape. Digital“ is an information database for cultural and landscape objects. This specialist information system is not only freely accessible (  https://www.kuladig.de/), it can also be shaped by the public. KuLaDig is operated by the Rhineland Regional Council (LVR), the State Office for Monument Preservation Hesse (LfDH), the Archaeological State Office Schleswig-Holstein (ALSH) and the Rhenish Association for Monument Preservation and Landscape Protection (RVDL).

KuLaDig is intended to provide access to object information that can otherwise only be found in archives or that would have to be requested from individual authorities. Information from various disciplines is brought together in the database. Localizations and descriptions of objects and phenomena are recorded, supplemented by media offers such as texts, maps, current and historical photos, videos and sound documents. In addition to interested laypeople and educational institutions, users also include specialist disciplines such as urban, spatial and landscape planning, nature conservation, as well as business and tourism. It should be noted, however, that the information is merely preliminary information that is not legally secure and that this should be checked with the relevant specialist authorities during planning projects.

The online platform "Kulturlandschaftsforum Bayern"

The online platform „Kulturlandschaftsforum Bayern“ (  projekt-hist-kulturlandschaft.jimdofree.com/home//) is intended to serve as an information exchange and network for home associations and voluntary working groups or educational institutions. Previous surveys of the cultural landscape are bundled and made digitally accessible. In addition, training modules, events and excursions related to the subject of “reading the landscape” can be offered in the future, and it will be possible to find contacts via an integrated blogging service. The platform also provides tools for recording the cultural landscape, such as mapping keys, handouts, and a web GIS database as a digital recording medium. The latter was developed as a model in the LEADER cooperation project "Recording (historical) cultural landscape" (2017-2020) and is being relaunched and expanded in functionality in the current project. The online platform “Kulturlandschaftsforum Bayern” with a further developed web GIS database and implemented blogging service is being tested in a model region that is spatially adjacent to the southern part of the completed LEADER cooperation project “Recording (historical) cultural landscape” and is located in the districts Donau-Ries, Dillingen, Aichach-Friedberg, city and district of Augsburg (region 9) as well as the districts of Landsberg am Lech, Starnberg and Fürstenfeldbruck (region 14).
